AVG is the best in terms as a 'free' anti-virus, but yes there are better products.

BitDefender Internet Security 10.4 is a more complete Package. Its anti virus is rated the best for the past 2 years by PC Magazine and it offers a more complete package including a firewall, antispam and parental controls.

While its not free, a 2 year license, is $60 (2 PCs is only $10), which a a great deal considering that Norton wants $80 for the exact same thing and a 1 year license.
