Don't buy a PSP unless you are comfortable with 'homebrew' (read: between semi legal and pirated) software. Games have become few and far in between with the lack of hardware sales, and with a hardware revision in the near future likely, you will likely have an obsolete machine before long with no new games coming out. The only benefit to buying it is the ability to use homebrew mods.
Then you need to be careful about what updates are downloaded and what games are run (as they automatically update the system).
