It depends on the game, in TF2 and CS I don't like it because all a sniper is a guy with a telescopic gun. Its gets dull. I prefer the Heavy Weapons Guy.

However, in games like BF2142 it can be a real blast because you have the space to move around. A snipers best weapon is concealment. To shoot someone and have them say where the Hell did that come from???

I once found myself guarding a flag by myself when a group of 6 enemy came to capture the flag. I was x (I wont say where cause its my favorite spot). I nailed the first 2 guys without them figuring there was a sniper around. The rest took cover behind a cement wall.

I waited patiently and reloaded.

A medic decided to try and revive his friends. Nailed him too with a head shot. The others stayed behind cover.

I redeployed slightly to the other end of the X while they were prone so that I could get a better angle and was able to snipe another as he was prone (he stuck his head out just enough...). This caused the other 2 to rabbit and I got them both (headshot + 2 bodyshots at very long range). This last shot was pure luck.

They never got that flag and they never found me. In fact the only reason I left the area that round was when I ran out of ammo.

Its moments like that, where its great to be a sniper.
