Yeah I noticed last night that the PC I have running my entertainment systems is a weeee bit noisy in the fan department...I'm probably going to look into replacing all the fans with silent running fans...
But why bother taking the fan apart just get some mating connectors and a resistor and make a pass through...You are already putting losses in with the resistor so any other losses with the connectors are, well who cares...plus it is only a fan so connection losses, are well who cares...
