Topic Age of Conan Beta, Downloading it now!!

Yay!
I was just able to get a key for the upcoming public beta test of Age of Conan..

Fileplanet are sending out 50,000 keys in batches for subscribers and founders club members, and I happen to have one of those..

They're releasing the keys in 3 batches every dayn until the beta starts Mays 1st, so it's not very easy to get one since each batch only last for a few minutes..

Here's a tip on how to get it:
I had comrade up and running and changed the IM sound to a bit longer one
and turned up the speakers so I could hear it downstairs as well.
Worked like a charm..

It looks like most of the "Hard core" gamers have got their Beta codes now since the latest batches have lasted a couple of hours.

However the download is very slow (50kb\s), did you have this happen as well?

are you downloading from a US or European location?
I downloaded from the European location and had around 530KB/sec... (20Mbit line here)

A US server, I didnt get the choice its was all US or nothing. There were no European servers. Maybe I am not in the right area.

UPDATE:

Sure Enough the European Server is back this morning. So i stopped (I only had 72 more hours of downloading to go...) and restarted.

The same thing happened to me as well..
I started downloading from a US server at 50-100KB/sec, but eventually a European servers showed up and the speed increased to +500KB/sec..

I am still having trouble...

I think my download was corrupted, two files refused to extract correctly I have to download it again...

What DL speed do you get now??
A couple of patches to the BETA has already been released so you'll have to download another 300-400MB after you've installed the BETA as well..

1500KB So that problem is solved.

I have downloaded the game twice and had the same problem. Its the same 2 files 16.dat and 19.dat. I get a CRC error: file corrupt error. I used two different extractors winrar and winzip (2 different versions of both) no luck. I checked the support board I seem to be the only one with this problem. Weird.

Oddly enough, I was able to install the game (despite the missing files). I can get to the login screen without problem (I cannot login obviously) so I guess when the servers are online tomorow at 15:00 I will know for sure if I can play.

I vaguly remember have a similar issue with the LOTRO trial, but had zero problems playing it. So maybe I'll get lucky...

I got the patch installed, and the file and DB check didnt spot an errors either.

The Beta launch has been delayed twice today..

It was supposed to start 1500GMT today, but it's delayed until 2200GMT now and that's midnight here in Norway and I'm going to work tomorrow and wont be home again until Saturday..

But it's probably best to wait a couple of days until they've sorted out the worst bugs.
I doubt that it will be very stable today or tomorrow..
