Post - Can someone fall in love online?

Do you think two people can actually fall in love online? I don't really think it's possible. I mean now people can use things like skype and youtube to see and hear each other. So it's better than the days of only e mail and pics, and IM.

But I mean I think it;s easier to talk to someone online. Chances are two people who fell in love online never would have even greeted each other or talked in a mall or public place.

SO then I guess it is possible. There seems to be a lot of desperate people on those pay dating sites , and the creators of those sites are getting rich.

I am think of starting my own free dating site, and just put advertisments on it to make tons of money.

Well do you think people can fall in love online?

The Good:
A very dear friend of mine fell in love online. It was like a dream. They met on a message board, then got together in real life. They were married a year later. Their daughter was born a year after that.

The Bad:
A year ago this past March he moved out and in with his girlfriend. One of his girlfriends. One of his MANY girlfriends.

The Ugly:
He goes on trial Wednesday for 6 felony counts, including but not limited to: Theft, forgery, possession of narcotics and failure to pay child support.

Oh well....

Let me add this though:

The friend mentioned above....WE met online. Of my closest friends, I've met ALL of them online. Granted we are from the same town, without the internet we most likely would never have met.

So it's not ALL bad.

Personally, I think it's a bad idea in general. It's one thing to meet friends, but it's another to meet a potential lover online. Nothing personal against those that it has worked out for, though there are simply too many horror stories floating around.

If I couldn't find a mate without the use of a computer, I'd personally rather remain single .

Dealer,
I'm with you. I prefer to meet potential mates in the real world. Though these days I'm on the computer so much that the line seems more than a little blurred.

Technically, they can.

I know a guy who found a girlfriend online, but he just found her through ICQ, and they later met each other offline, before they became lovers.

However, it's quite unlikely, even through dating sites, although most people there just keep themselves on online dating sites, and don't go offline to meet the person, and that's why they never find love.

I think that it is possible, very possible there are alot of people doing it weather it be through dating site, Instant messaging, forums all sorts of different ways, but i wouldn't know what the outcome of it would be compared to finding someone like going to a bar, walking through the park things like that i think it's all kind of the same thing. I think the big diffence in meeting people online to meeting people at a bar or something like that would be there body language, they way they speak etc, i mean if your on a computer and you have a web cam chat you can't really feel the vibe between each other lol, where as if you go meet someone at a cafe or some other place you can see how they are really lol.
