Have you tried to manually access the drive? My computer automatically accesses the cd drive when I put something in there, but not all computers do this unless you set them up this way. Has your computer read the drive automatically before?

Is there a way to set things up so when she puts a new disc in it will automatically play? I got a pop up box asking me if I wanted to set it up this way, but that was on XP. It makes it easy for those of us who are lazy

There is another way! You can try to go to My Computer then go to your CD drive and access it there by just clicking the startup icon.

i think the cd drive target or destiny might had altered. i mean, there might be some wrong setting there~ which the drive still reads but its at another location.

Blank disc with something on it? I assume you mean a CD-R disc with something on it.. check the bios and make sure those drives are configured correctly..
