Post - Easiest programming language to learn

so i've tried learning a few languages some hard some really hard, but what would you consider to be a very easy language to learn, i think for me it's easier for me to learn by actually doing it as well as reading about how to do things.

Visual basic? I tried it and it's only a matter of pointing and clicking with a bit of coding. But I don't find it that useful. How about python? I heard it's one of the easier languages to learn.

It's been a while since I've done any offline programming so I haven't tried many new languages myself yet but I've heard that both Visual Basic and Python are quite user friendly and you can find lots of free tutorials on the net and there are also a few good "for dummies" books out there..

Rebol is another programming language that I've heard is very easy for beginners, but I've never seen or tried it myself so I have really no idea if that's correct or not...

A tutorial (of some sort):

And you also have Kids Programming Language - KPL..

(it's really not just for kids so this could actually be something for programming newbies as well..)

Thanks those are interesting i have heard of Visual Basic and Python but just seeing the words they didn't look like something easy to learn lol, but since you are saying it's easy i will go and check them out.

I heard python is used in huge Hollywood graphics and animation studios so that perked my interest. But the rebol looked interesting, especially with their inetrnet OS thing. And KPL looks cool too, I'm trying to get a nephew interested in programming and web stuff but it runs only in Windows. Anything that's cross platform? Thanks.

lol easy to learn? all programming languages are easy to learn... for the start... after a while when it gets down to the core of it they all tend to get harder... so it seems so to me... Java, C, PHP, ASP, ASP.NET...

but I think once you've grasp the basic foundation of a programming language, it can be used as a base to learn other programming languages. It wouldn't be so difficult to pick up another programming language once you've learnt something similar before...
