Post - Finance Software??

Yello!

Does anyone have any suggestion for the best personal finance software? I'm UK Based and most of the current leaders such as MS Money and Quicken now only support US users.

Any Advice would be appreciated.

My mom learned how to use Peachtree when she went back to school after working for a long time. She said she really liked it. Perhaps Peachtree is an option you should look into.

The thing is Peachtree (known owned by SAGE) is more of an accounting software than a personal finance software. Its really meant for small-medium business accounting and payroll. You could use it, but I think its mostly overkill. Its not cheap either.

Other than that I think you are out of luck.

You can make a decent toolkit with Excel (or OpenOffice Calc), I've done that myself and it works fine for me unless you have a complicated personal economy that requires top notch software. Some banks give away free CDs with personal software (both personal economy, stocks and shares, etc) so what if you check around with your local banks?

Or check some of the tools mentioned in this article:

Money Manager EX, released under GNU GPL. I think it's good for keeping track of your money.

What do you need the software to do, wifiry? If you just want to balance your accounts, I say just write an excel spreadsheet.

A friend of mine has everything on excel spreadsheets. She doesn't like dealing with other people's money programs, she said they never have the options she needs.

Spreadsheets are useful for managing personal accounts and Gnumeric is a good free one. For real financial management apps, the following provide free and open source alternatives:

I do everything on my self-created Excel spreadsheet, and it works out just fine for me. I run a small business, and even with this, I haven't seen a need for extra software.

Like jjsauer, I also use Excel spreadsheet for my financing needs. It is very easy to use and you don’t need to learn especial skill. It is just basic. I think that your state will not be an issue here.
