Post - Google Co-op

This is pretty cool and I think has a lot of potential...Basically its a google search engine you customize to search only certian sites or to focus only on certain sites but to search the entire web...You can allow other people to contribute to it or you can just do it yourself....

This is one I'm working on http://search.freelancegamer.com/

The Google Co-op page

This is cool, in my current job I have to visit several web pages to collect the data I need for my projects and with over 800 web pages bookmarked in my browser I do think spending some time to configure this tool will certainly help ease my workday

Thanks for sharing!

Excellent idea....I'm gonna make one myself for work...

The best part is you can also have people contribute to editing the lists and you can set it to show on your Google home page... I love my gmail account

My partners in crime (the design team I am part of) and myself are building a programming related resource page and this tool from Google actually fits our design (or more the lack of it... ) and our need for an online and dynamically driven database. Instead of developing a SQL database for the urls we have decided to use Google Coop for the project.

Does it use the current Google index??
If it does then it would take some time before it's useful for new sites since Googlebot have to crawl and index new pages. A lot of pages will also (most probably) be missing, so as a site search this doesn't look too useful.

I wonder if by selecting a site you encourage the googlebot to crawl it?

I doubt it, since that would be (really) easy to abuse for spam sites etc..
