Post - "I got the Power!" 850W of NorthQ Black Magic Power!

A little while ago I got a second 8800GTS and after that the PC started to act weird, especially when I was playing Age of Conan of the highest settings..
I blamed the game bugs first since the game got locked, I got graphics errors, weird colors etc. but it happened on a few other games as well so when I started trouble shooting I narrowed it down to my old PSU, it didn't seem to have enough juice for two overclocked 8800GTS cards on full load..

Here's my old PSU:
Hiper Type-R 580W, modular
http://www.hipergroup.com/products.p...w=1024&h=5 68

It is/was a good PSU, really silent and I liked the modular system and the cables on it and I haven't had any problems with it at all until now.
But since it's close to 3 years old now I guess it was time to upgrade to a new one soon anyway..

So here's what I got now:
Northq Black Magic Flex 850W,Modular,80+ ATX, 135mm Fan, 12-20db
http://www.northq.com/products/power...-850-flex.html

A tiny bit more powerful, so this one should hopefully last a while..
Tested it on Age of Conan on full today, and still no problems so it looks like it was the old PSU that was causing (most of) the problems there..

Now all of your neighbours will be complaining of their lights going dim, when you are playing games.

You can't win you know.

But the good thing is that I'll probably never need to have an extra heat source in my office, this new PSU and the two graphics cards are heating more than enough..

Video cards are quite demanding on the PSU, thats why they have their own seperate power supply as opposed to get power from the mainboard. A 580W PSU is cutting it close for SL, so you did the right thing by upgrading.

I am unfamiliar with NorthQ how is it? How come you didnt go with a modular design this time around?

NorthQ's got quite good reviews here so it seems to be quite good.
no problems so far anyway.

It is modular by the way.
