Post - Hellgate London

Anyone try Hellgate London?

I ordered mine preorder and due to a shipping delay I haven't received it yet. In the meantime the first reviews have comeout and generally people say its disappointing, mainly due to bugs and a lack of polish.

i.e a classic case of "ship now, patch later".

So I am seriously considering sending it back unopened. Whaddhya all think?

I got it, and I must say that I have mixed feelings about it...
It really wasn't the type of game I expected it to be, not enough story and too much "hack'n slash" for my taste..
The intro was great, one of the best I've seen in a while so I had really big expectations when I started to play it but unfortunately the gameplay wasn't that good at all...
Too much point and click, kill x demons/imps, collect x something etc....
The graphics is good but not as good as I expected either but it is pretty similar to Diablo 2, and it's different than many other new games so I probably will play it from time to time but not as much as I expected before I pre-ordered it...

Haven't tested the multiplayer part yet, and I've read that it's a bit better than single player mode so I'll post here when I've tested that one as well...

But it really isn't a bad game, it's just that it isn't as good as it could have been and as good as I expected..
It's pretty similar to Diablo 2, just in 3D...

I cannot decide.

Would you keep it or send it back if you had the choice?

I just picked up COD4 which everybody says is excellent.

If you liked Diablo 2 then I would probably keep it if I where you..
As I said, it's not a bad game, I just expected quite a lot from it before I bought it so that's the main reason why I got a bit disappointed.
But I'll probably play it from time to time, and I haven't tried the online part yet either..

I've played it a bit more now, and it's actually getting quite a bit better when you reach higher levels (around 10-12).
It is a hack'n slash game, and many of the quests are similar (kill X of xx, kill Lord xx, reach xx etc..), and the monster AI isn't the best I've seen but that's really how a game like this should be (except the AI)..
Some of the levels/"dungeons" are quite similar, but there are some really nice outdoors levels further on, and the storyline gets better as well.
There are also tons (thousands) of ways to modify your weapons and armor so you can spend quite a lot of time there to find what suits you and your character bests..

So now I would keep the game if I where you, especially if you like(d) Diablo 2 since they are quite similar..

Thx -Hal-

I already sent it back. Truth is I have too many as it is, I just picked up Crysis and COD4 not to mention I am beta testing Pirates of the Burning Sea. Not to mention several other games I need to finish. So I will pass for now.

How's Pirates of the Burning Sea by the way?
Care to post a few lines on that one?

I cannot get into a lot of details because of the NDA. They are pretty strict on this, I know some guys that were booted off the beta because they flapped their beak abit too much. Once the Beta is closed I can share a bit more.

I would best describe it as a mixture of WOW, Sid Mier's Pirates, and Sea Dogs which was FLP last game...

The Naval Part of the game is very much like Pirates. Its not a very detailed sim, but there are alot of career options which makes the game diverse.

There are 4 classes, Navy, Freetrader, Privateer and Pirate each have very different abilities strengths and weaknesses.
