Post - Hosting my domain

So, I´ve finally (with the help of -HAL-) gotten to my senses and gotten my own domain..

Now I need somewhere to host it, and I was wondering if any of you guys have any good suggestions?

What I need is;
email
forum capabilities
some storage...
probably something else I can´t think of at the moment

NOTE: The site is only supposed to be a minor project site, and basicly needs just the basics..
All help is much appreciated!

Hard to say really, there's as many places as there are opinions. Any shared hosting with a company that has a good reputation would be good in my opinion.

The tread below will give you some ideas

What is your monthly budget??
"You get what you pay for" is also true in hosting, so I wouldn't recommend any free hosting providers..
But it's no problem to find a good host for $5-$7 a month that have all of the features (and much) more that you'll need..
So if you want to spend a few $$ (which I now that you can afford.. ) then I'll send you some suggestion to good hosts I've used in the past.

Seeing as I´m gonna become a student again, my budget will get a little low... however, I suppose i could do with some $$ a month..

any way to pay for a full year in advance, would be great.

Thank you!

Most of them allows you to pay for 1 or 2 years, and you usualy get a nice discount if you do..
I'll give you a few suggestions the next time I see you

Yes, HostGator and Lunarpages both provide quite a good value for 1 year payment in advance.

Many web hosting providers will allow you to pay upfront, though personally, it's better to pay month-to-month.

Sure, you may not receive the hefty discount, though, it's not always easy getting a refund when you find out the service isn't up to par with your expectations.

This is not to say you won't get a refund, but many will delay the process as long as they need to, regardless of the advertisement.

Use dreamhost, you get unlimited domain hosting and if you can find a $97 off coupon (easy to find) it will only cost like £40 a year with a free domain :P

Free or paid? There are lots of free hostings available and there are a few good ones. You can try Zeeblo Synced, to begin with.

For paid hosts, there are lots of packages available to suit you budget. Bluehost offers great value for $7.00 a month and is quite reliable while hostingpuppy has packages starting at $1 per GB. It's a buyer's market.
