Post - How Long Has Your Pc Been On?

I've had mine on for more than 5 days. I'm doing some research on several pages and at night I just leave it on so I won't forget where I got with my reading. Fortunatelly for me, I always found it turned on in the morning so I didn't loose any important webpage addresses. I guess I should save them to favorites just in case.

My home computer; Normaly not more than a day..
My office computer; Weeks at the time.. :smil:
(I just lock Windows before I go home, takes too long to turn it on and log in every morning since it's a network computer..)

Most of the time, I keep my PC on hibernate mode. Unless when it is apparent that the memory need some rest (when browser or programme is lagging), I will restart it.

My pc at home usually is on for about a day before someone eventually in my family turns off the pc or restarts, this usually being my pops because he hates wasting electricity and he really gets pissed because he thinks the computer is the reason for the high energy bill. Its frustrating explaining this to a hard headed old man from the old country lol.

My work computer (laptop) is normally powered on 24/7 except when I go on vacation - then it hibernates safely in the safe. My home computer is normally on for a couple of hours depending on what I'm doing.

Well if you have a CRT on stand by and your computer idling you are using probably the equivalent of 2 75W light bulbs...When the computer is cranking you are looking at close to 250W just for it...So yeah it does add up...

So leaving a high end computer on 24/7 will cost you like $350 a year (a pretty good assumption)

Using a computer for a couple hours (2-3) a day will cost you like $6 bucks a year...

Unless you connect to your neighbours outlet

My software never has bugs. It just develops random features.
