Post - I'm back with a new PC

well, it has been awhile since i last visited here, and in that period of time, i had to get a new pc. the old one (from eMachines) just had too many problems. Now, i've got a nice little number in the form of a dell inspiron:

19'' flat panel monitor
260GB Hard Drive
intel Pentium Core Duo processor
1 GB RAM
256MB ATI Radeon X1300PRO video card

much better than my old pc. it's glad to be back and i hope to be around the threads.

I don't have all the answers, but I can make you think I do.

Very nice. Eventually I'll post my own build. I'll post those scores when I get a chance to push it to its limits in earnest (have a Kandalf Liquid Cooling case, so I run real cool even not having lapped the heatsink and processor yet).

Do much gaming on the new machine, or plan to?

What makes a pc run fast? I have one on a network in my home.It is very slow.Is it the cpu that makes one run fast or slow.?Sure would like to speed it up but I think it is because it is running on a router.

Way too hard to say. I had one computer which ran... decently, but was certainly slow on my network because the Hard Drive only operated at about 3 MB/s. My network was fine, but accessing and transferring files took forever.

Or is it actually using the computer than slows it down? Give more details, maybe its an easy solution.
