Topic IP Geo location tool - Find the location of any IP - New project

I've been expanding the Spyber tools a bit now, and my newest project is a tool where you can enter any IP and get the geo info on it, including the location on a Google map, and you can also find some more useful(?) info related to the IP address there.

It's still in "beta" so there will be some changes, including a better layout...

I've limited the number of lookups to 50 pr day for now, to limit the server load a bit, and I've also (tried) to add a couple of measures to prevent automated lookups from other scripts/sites...

And it (of course) uses AJAX to load the results..

It could, as an example, be useful for forum admins to verify where members are from based on their IP's etc..

Upgraded it some more and added an IP Whois tool there as well now.

The IP Whois tool is still in a testing phase so it's not 100% yet, but it work's for most IP's
and should be able to find out which one of the 7 major IP whois databases it should use (RIPE, ARIN, APNIC etc.)

Both Tools uses AJAX to display the results on the same page now.
It's also possible to link to directly to it from other tools/pages and get a specific IP address displayed directly in the input box:

that's pretty cool there -HAL-. i checked my IP out, and listed me out in the middle of a forest a mile away from where i really am. oh well, it's still pretty cool.

That is awesome Hal, it is a little off in the positioning, but that is because that is where my ISP is actually connecting. It seems like a great idea that could really be expanded, best of luck with the project.

What a great idea. It will be a handy tool for ladies who get propositioned or harassed online. If you can find where the fellow lives, you can find other information about them as well, regardless of the screen name!

I just visited the site. Cool! Can we do that to our sites too, place a google map indicating the location of the visitor. The map locator is pretty accurate.
