Post - Ipod Video running LINUX(!)

This is so friggin cool I can´t keep still

So, what I did was partition the ipods HD freeing about 4gigs of space to cram in a linux operating system. I´m gonna get some pictures and stuff up for this because this is a must see!

I have modded the ipod so that the opening screen is a menu where you can select the following;
-mac OS(ipod GUI)
-LINUX gui(!)
-File transfers
-Sleep mode

Not to set you off, I´m not a pro modder.. all the files and stuff were from various sites on the ´net..

So as you can see you can choose which operating system to run on the ipod. which is really cool.

All i´ve done so far is install a few extra games and stuff, but the possibilities are endless. hey, it´s linux

Best part is when you boot linux the coding flurries across the screen
I love having things average Joe doesn´t even know about!

Just thought I´d share the fun

I don't like the iPod but to actually see it running Linux is pretty amazing...my neighbour has an iPod Video 5G(30GB) and he is afraid of running Linux on it...but hey...personally I think the iPod sucks...I love the Cowon A2...which runs on Linux already...and that is out of the box.

I agree that I'm not a big fan of the ipod I think its just an over priced apple product, nothing new there then!

Just googled the cowan and thats a good piece of kit! still a bit pricey though, but I'm in Rip Off Britain, it would probably only be half the price in the states!

That is pretty cool, I wonder if the iPod will at some point start shipping with an OS and be an all around mini-mac. If you can do it now, just imagine the future of the iPod.
