Hal you are now 4th in line for an invite although I dont have any as of now...

The broadcast quality isn't bad at all. It lags a bit at first but once it gets a good buffer it is fine. I would say it is comparable to regular TV, plus I think it goes up in quality as it buffers or at least it seems that way.

Again it is def a beta and has some kinks that need to be worked out but it def. has potential.

I am especially curious about the widgets in the "my joost" section apparently you and other content providers will be able to make your own. Right now it does have chat as in you can chat with people watching the same channel as you, which could be way cool for debate type stuff and educational purposes. Since you can pause it getting into a discussion about something would not cause you to miss anything...

Some links of interest at the joost site:

Current channels list - http://www.joost.com/whatson/channels.html

-edit

It is also available for Mac OSX as well as XP... I bet there will be a linux version at some point too

I can maybe save the release notes so you can view them but as of now you have to have an account and be logged in to see them...

Looks good and it seems like they've got a few interesting channels there.
Braindead's certainly an interesting (and fitting?) name for a TV channel..

This sounds like a pretty good thing. Can anyone send me an invite to gracesmile88@hotmail.com? Thanks in advance! I'll owe you all the pleasure of watching Joost.

Got JOOST now and so far it looks interesting.

The concept looks good, and there are a few ok channels there but not enough to make me want to pay for them (later).
Easy to setup and switch channels and programs, but I'm not that impressed by the video quality so I hope they'll improve that one soon.

They are going to try and keep it free, which means ads will be coming...

The thing I like is the widget aspect and how users and content providers will be able to make their own. Could be cool for certain shows...

As for video quality it really depends on the program, then again if you sit back far enough it isnt bad...I mean how many people sit as close to the TV as they do to the monitor anyways

Dont get me wrong it is no HDTV, far from it....

That's a good point. The advertisements. How are the advertisements-- are they the "Myspace" type of ads? The flashy kind? Popups? I'd like to know what kind of ads I'd be exposed to in Joost. Thanks.
