Post - Do you like Spades

Well i got bored playing those Windows online spades. And then started to look for some online spade playing opportunity and after some feedback from other users over popular chat rooms i finally found a good online spade playing site. Spadester.com

They have great competitions, the best spades softwares (NO adware or spyware), You can play for either fun or for real money which makes the games more exciting, you can also set the game on certain difficulty levels and above all they got the best customer support.

I invited a bunch of my friends also in this site so we can play together and the fun just adds up. It is a huge site that is really a legit one with over 4000 members playing.

The biggest online Spades community and has great features like chat, forum, player's ranking and a lot more. And it has all three popular Spades versions played online: Individual, Cutthroat and Partnership.

Guys if you really like playing spades online I would suggest you to join Spadester.com. You won't find a good place like to play spades.

Hey Anirban, I went to that site you recommended and I have to admit that you're right, it really is a pretty good site.
I signed up and started to play with the $1000 play money they give you, and boy was I on a roll, my points are up to 1024 and I've now got over $1015 in my account. :-) I can see this becoming my favourite card game to play on line, I've tried a few others but they only offer one type of game whereas Spadester.com offers 3 different games. I tried 2 of them and I like the cutthroat game best. I'm wondering if I'll ever get up the courage to play for real money.

woohoo.. that is what i wanted to hear all about. Well i have been playing partnership more often than other two version of spades. In partnership, pairs is a great way to make new friends and also improve the skills. The team that reaches the set point first wins the game. As simple as that. Playing with partners makes it easy for me to win more.
Playing for real money always has the risk, what i mean is you have to practice before you go out to play for real bucks. For a beginner it is best to get skilled first and maybe then you should try playing for real money.

Well I've been playing the Spadester game for a few days now and I'm still enjoying it. I will confess that I HATE it when I get dealt really low cards or very few spades, a couple of times I've just shut down the game for the table that I'm playing at when I've had bad cards. I still prefer to play the cutthroat game because there's only 3 players and I find it easier to decide how many hands I'm going to win. I've also figured out a few strategies for when I'm playing, sorry can't tell you what they are in case I get to play against you one day and anyway they are still dependant upon being dealt a good hand.

Spades is actually quite an enjoyable game, it's not that hard to learn how to play, just a bit of paitents and then keep playing the game and then after that it's just easy to play.
I've only played it at Worldwinner but since i found out about spadester i've been playing there and it's a fun game to play.

There are a few general good strategies to use in spades that iw ould like to discuss

In partnership spades, one should pass his partner low, non-trump cards when the partner bids nil or double nil.

During the beginning of the round, it is practice to play Aces before other high cards.

If you are attempting to capture tricks, always play the highest card if the current highest card can be beaten.

If the highest played card cannot be beaten, and one does not possess any spades, then one should play the lowest card of the lead suit, followed with any low card if the lead suit is not available. This may not be advisable if you have already met your alloted amount of tricks, and do not want to get over-tricks resulting in bags.

In the latter situation, a low card in a suit that one possesses the least of should be played. If an entire suit can be removed early in the game, a trick with a low spade may be played.

Just use these basic tips and tricks at Spadester.com and you might win some games and have a good time. Because sometimes even the best of spades player can't stick to these tricks.

Aww, now you've told em all the tips and it's going to be harder to winbut since we're telling people some strategies here's one that I use when trying to decide how many tricks I think I'll win.

Obviously Aces and Kings will normally get you a hand apiece, Queens will normally get you one unless your opponents only have a couple of cards to that suit. If you only have < 3 of any suit and some spades to play, you can normally win a hand that way.
Example hand for playing cutthroat spades, 17 cards per hand:
A,K,Q,7,5,2 Hearts - A,K,Q
K,J,10 Clubs - K
Q,10, Diamonds - Q
Q,J,10,7,6,5 Spades -Q,J
With that hand I would bid to win 7 tricks, as 2 suits are 3 or less cards I would hope to grab the trick using my lower spades. A word of warning, if you've a handful of Spades, 7+ , presume you're going to win a lot of tricks.

If you win more than you bid you get "bags" which equal 1 point, 10 bags will get your score reduced by 100 points, if you don't get as many tricks a syou've bid your score is reduced by how many you bid for x 10, so if you bid 4 and lost, your score will be -40 points.

Spades is in my opinion a game of both luck and strategy, if you're lucky you get high cards or lots of Spades, and after playing for a while you can begin to develop a strategy for playing your cards, so if anyone out there is looking for a new online game to play, both for real and/or play money, I believe that Spadester.com is well worth a try. You can join games that will only last 10 mins or the longer games can go on for 30 mins or until a points level is achieved. So come on you Poker people, at least give it a go, you've nothing to lose but 10 mins of your time.
