Post - Monkey Island

Oh, you have to love the Monkey Island series. You play a pirate with a series of unfortunate events, treasures, mysteries and lots of jokes.
I think there were 4 in total. The first 2 were the classics. The third was really good too (similar to the style of A Road Adventure) and the last one was 3d (was so and so).

I really love the Monkey Island games, especially the first and second..
Number 3 and 4 were made without the original designer (Ron Gilbert), so that's probably the reason why they're not as good as the original(s)...

I really love the "sword fights" in The Secret of Monkey Island, they have to be one of most classic scenes in gaming history..

You fight like a dairy farmer.
How appropriate. You fight like a cow

Monkey Island games are classic! I played through them with my kids. They were mainly kid friendly, with a few innuendos that passed by them (like old Looney Tunes).

How did I miss these? I will have to check them out. They sound like a lot of fun. I have two sons that would probably love these games.

I wonder how that's possible as well

Even if the graphics and sound are outdated I still find The Secret of Monkey Island one of the best games of all times, and I know that many agree with me there as well.

I still play it from time to time using an Amiga emulator..

Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge is pretty good as well, but I recommend that you start with #1 first if you haven't tried any of them before since many of the jokes in #2 are based on the storyline of the first game.

I have never laughed as much of a pc/video game that I did when I played the first two Monkey Island games..

Stan who appears in Monkey Island is perhaps one of the best in game characters ever created - his attempts to sell coffins is one of a kind

Monkey Island is a number one classic! I haven't played it for a while now but it is on my "to play list" this summer.

My family still quotes Monkey Island games sometimes. We have begun to resist the urge to comment every time we see a place that offers "bottomless cups".

I haven't heard of them either, but my curiosity is aroused by this thread.

Do you think that they're still out there? I'd be interested in trying a PC version that runs on XP.

It's possible to find copies of it on eBay or other stores that sell used games.

This video on YouTube w/Monkey Island piano music is a "must" in a thread like this..
