Do you know if the new HDD is formatted or not?
If it's not then it wont show up.

What OS do you use??
If it's Windows XP you can try this:

Please post here if you need any more help, or if this doesn't work..

If it still doesn`t work you might have a problem with the power supply of that hdd.Sometimes they crack and do not continuously give power to the hdd and that`s why it appears at the bios screen

I know that if you have two drives on one pc, they must have the same manufacturer. For example, let’s say that my first hard drive is Maxtor then if ever I want to install another hard drive I must also get a Maxtor hard drive.

That's usually not a problem.
I have three HDDs on my desktop, all different brands. (2x S-ATA and one IDE)
