| Post - PC game conflict with vista that has media player I just got Fallout 3 for the pc and found an odd conflict problem with it and my computer and I was hoping someone could help me figure out if and how to fix it. During game play your suppose to be able to hit the (~) key to enter the console window of the game the problem is when I hit the key nothing happens I posted this problem elsewhere and this is what I got for a reply “ I have (had) the same problem. You most likely have Windows Vista with the Windows Media center program? For some reason that interferes with the tilde (~) key in games that use Bethesda's Gamebryo engine. To resolve the issue simply go to your hardware device manager and uninstall any IR devices. These are Infred Devices, usuall associated with a TV remote that came with your PC. These devices use the "IR" somewhere in their name or use Infrared as part of their description.
Once uninstalled, then you can use the Tilde key. If it doesn't work you may have more than one and will have to look through the device list again. Note: This only works while you keep the computer on. When you restart your computer the devices will be automatically installed again, disabling the tilde key once more. So you have to do this each time you start up your computer. “ I did what they said worked for them and it worked until I restarted my computer. I just want to know why IR would be conflicting with something like that and if there’s a better way to fix this problem. I have a HP Pavilion and thks for any help.
