Ok here we go...

1. First I need to know exactly about whats in the PC. Motherboard, CPU, RAM, PSU, and Graphics card- You need these just to start the computer. I need make and model, the more info the better.

2. When you say wont boot can you describe it. Do you get power? Does the PC POST? If it doesn't POST are there error beeps? Do you get an Image? Is there an error message etc...

The pc doesnīt get ANY power at all. no signal, no beeps no nothing. sometimes when i put in the power cord the cpu fan moves slightly.

the power switch is on and the cable has been switched.

Is it your stationary PC or the portable one?
If it's your stationary it could be a fuze in the power supply, or even a loose wire to the motherboard (but I would guess you've checked that already??)

Buy a new power supply, it's probably broken since the fan don't move at all..
It's easy to replace it.

sounds like what happened to my PC, and it turned out it was the power supply. ended up getting a new one because the ones at home didn't put out enough juice.

I believe he said the power supply was new (if its not, check connections)

1. This sounds stupid. But check the AC socket. You wouldn't believe the number of times I have dealt with people who have simply forgotten to switch on the power.

2. When you hooked up the mother board to the PSU did you remember to hook up the AUX power supply in addition to the MB. You need to hook up both the Main power plug AND the AUX. The Main and the AUX look the same, but AUX is the 4 prong plug, the main is a 20 prong plug (much larger).

3. When attaching the MB to the metal case, its very important to use Spacers and not to tighten the screws too hard. If the board has much contact with metal, it won't boot.

4. Double check to make sure use set the the switch plugs in the right whole. These are the thin wires that connect the buttons (PW switch, PW LED, Reset, HDD LED, etc). Remember they do need to placed in a specific direction. Insert it the wrong way, and it won't work.

5. You can also also try this remove the motherboard from the case. Place the board on a anti-static mat. Install only the CPU, CPU fan, RAM, video card and power supply.

This is the very basic you need for a successful POST. This next part is delicate. Using a metal screwdriver just touch the two pins that control the Power Switch. (Check your motherboard manual). Be careful only to touch those two, otherwise you might cause a short-curcuit.

The PC should power on. If it doesn't your MB (or PSU) is bad.
