Post - PHP or ASP?

Do you think PHP or ASP is better?
I think PHP is better because I know it better, and it's more straight forward than ASP.

I guess you mean ASP.NET and not ASP??

PHP all the way here as well..
Haven't tried ASP.NET that much, but I prefer LINUX and Open Source so that leaves ASP.NET out for now since ASP.NET has to be run on a Windows server.
(I know about the MONO project to get ASP.NET running on LINUX, but that one's not 100% stable yet)

Well I'm not sure...I've coded in PHP a few times...but ASP has its benefits as well...I'd have to think about it though...I'm not sure which is better yet.

ASP is Active Server Pages. .NET is the Miscrosoft's added version. So you like PHP better?

I know..
But (the old) ASP seems to be a dying "breed" since, as far as I know, there's not that many left that use it anymore compared to ASP.NET??

And yes, I do prefer PHP, but that's probably because that's what I've used the most and I haven't programmed much in ASP or ASP.NET....

PHP all the way.

To tell the truth, I've never used ASP, but as people said here, the old ASP is dying out, while ASP.NET has to be run on Windows server, and I don't like paying extra money for my server only because it's running a less efficient OS.

Beside that, most already available scripts are written in PHP, and I'm a big lover of reusing somebody else's work to make my life easier. So yeah, PHP all the way.

I don't know how to code both PHP, yet, and ASP.NET but based on the proliferation of scripts using it and the large userbase, I think the former has the upperhand. PHP must be the main server-side scripting language in use and I'm placing my bet on it.

I've tried PHP and ASP... but ASP.NET well that one is a little tough, it truly is not as straight forward and you have to think harder too cos of the object orientated programming and classes lol
