I really don't recommend to overclock the 8800 GTS that much for a long period, it was getting quite hot..

I removed the side cover of my computer case and used our living room floor fan (large one) at full speed directly into the case to get it cool enough....
So it's not something I would to do while playing games since it was rather noisy..

Hey guys, I finally built a new computer so now its my turn to brag . I just achieved a 11716 on 3dmark 06. The system as of right now is a Core Duo e6600 @ 3.37 ghz, evga 680i Nvidia chipset, 8800gts @ 672/2144, and 2gigs of ram. I am pretty sure I can get more out of it, I have only had the system for 24 hours.

More competition, that's good...
Very nice score there Big_Z.
What kind of RAM and 8800 GTS do you have by the way??
672/2144 Mhz is quite impressive on a 8800 GTS!

The ram is cheap Kingston 667mhz ram, I was a bit short on cash so I had to buy that. The video card is a PNY 8800 gts 640 meg. Another cheepy but it seems to be doing the job well. I scored a 12,000+ but I crashed later that night so I didn't think that would be fair to post.

You must have overclocked that one pretty much then..
Isn't the stock speed around 500/1600Mhz??
Be careful that you don't destroy the graphics card while overclocking it that much (unless you're using good water cooling??)

That sounds about right, I used the Ntune's auto OC feature and thats what it came up with. I did a double take when it first came up with 1100mhz, I thought I was seeing things. That setting was actually a little too high, I had to drop it down a bit. The heatsink on my cpu is actually fanless at the moment. Its the thermalright ultra 120. It idles at about 39c and full load gets to about 60c at 1.4v, does this seem safe? It is rock solid so I am sticking with it until informed otherwise.

Going a tiny bit off topic now
But those temperatures really doesn't sound correct when it's OCed that high, and using only a passive cooler...
Mine reached 60C-70C when I overclocked it to 625/1944 Mhz w/air cooling and I used an additional HUGE living room fan directed directly towards the graphics card to keep the temperature down then...

So 60C on full load at 672/2144Mhz (from 500/1600Mhz) sounds very low to me so I would be very careful about overclocking it that much..

-HAL- but Big_Z was writing about his CPU not GPU temperatures.
