Post - PS3 Price fall

Love it when everything is kept too confusing to keep track of. The 60 gig is discontinued, dropped to $500, the 80 gig is here at $600, and this leaves the 20 Gig version overstocked and unloved.

If anyone is interested, Gamestop has it at a downright bargain. $450 gets you the PS3 core version, along with a rebate form good for 5 free Blu-Ray DVDs. That's actually a pretty reasonable deal, even just for a Blu-Ray player. $500 gets the 60 Gig version with the same DVD deal.

EDIT: A link would be helpful, eh? It's added now.

I'm really considering to get a PS3, but I think I'll wait until the 120Gb version hits Europe and the price drops even more first..
The 60Gb version, bundled with two games, costs around $1,000 here in Norway now..

I dunno, I think I prefer the 360, probably get an 'elite'.

Personaly I wouldn't yet invest in blu-ray. I suspect there will be a new format soon because MS, Toshiba and universal are not going to give up on HD-DVD.

I don't disagree that HD-DVD is not dead, but for anyone looking for HD movies sooner, this is a hell of a bargain. I don't have the cash to kill on it (or money for Blu-Ray movies, for that matter), but it isn't bad compared to everything else.

I can't believe how cheap the PS3 is in the US. It's still $800 here in the UK

I think i will wait till a decent number of games have been released, maybe even after a year, then il think of purchasing it, because right now, for me, it will just collect dust, $800 dust

I'm waiting for MGS4 to come out before I spend the money on a PS3 but it's getting pretty tempting now that its only $399 CAD for the 40 GB model. What are the chances of another price drop in the next year or so? It will probably depend on the prices of the Wii and X360 but I'm desperately hoping for a price tag even more manageable than what its at now.
