Post - Selling Domains

There was a time a few years ago when we owned more than 80 domains... and rather good ones in most cases. The plan was to sell them and maybe develop a few but it didn't turn out that way. I didn't know where to sell them and since we were using Enom, the expense was running up rapidly.

If it ever becomes a bee in my bonnet again, how *would* I go about trying to sell them? Or is buying with the express purpose of reselling simply a bad idea?

Do you still own the domains, or are you planning to get new ones to sell??

If you still own domains and are planning to sell them then I would recommend using SEDO.com and Afternic.com, since most of the domains are sold there today (especially at SEDO)
And if you own any market specific domains you could try to approach end-users directly by phone or mail and ask them if they're interested.
But beware of potential trademark issues if you do it so be sure to do some research first!

Hm, it's getting harder and harder everyday to find new domains that are worth anything, so patience is a must if you're planning to get into buying/selling domains today since most of the good ones are long gone and the good ones that drop today are snapped up by auctioning companies and unless you're having a very deep purse then I really don't recommend you to try those...

But it's certainly possible to register new domains today and sell them for good $$$ if you know what you're doing.
New technologies and companies are emerging everyday so if you're lucky (and know what you're doing) then you can still hand-register some good domains today...

We let most of them go. The ones we still have are being used now. I know that many places are less expensive than Enom, but that's where we started them and just let them expire after a few years.

Ah, great! Thank you. I wasn't even aware that such a place existed which is why I never knew where to start in trying to sell. If the issue arises again of selling, I'll definitely look there.

I *was* aware of the trademark issues, though, and always paid attention to that before registering.

Thanks for this advice, it was very helpful!

Since creating high value domains is more difficult than it used to be, it seems that developing a domain is almost a necessary step, even if you hope to sell it later.

SEDO is the place. Big and small domains gets sold there all the time. You can also register yourself at Digital Point and sell domains and websites there. It s a nice small place where people do buy domains and websites.
