Post - Sharkrunners : Discovery Channel using real life data for online game

Just discovered this blog post about Discovery Channel's online game: Sharkrunners.
You're given a virtual boat and a virtual crew to track real life sharks that have been tagged with GPS receivers.

I've just left port with my newly acquired ship, the Black Pearl, but still haven't encountered any sharks..

Not the most action filled online game, but it's certainly an interesting concept using real life data in online games and I'm sure we'll see more like these soon..

You should really try this one, I'm addicted already..
I check it every time I go online, do a few research dives and set a new course so it's ready for the next time I go online again..
The boat moves in real time as well so it can take up to 10 hours to reach a port or a shark..

I'm up to $550k in earnings now, and have bought all of the gear..
