I don't think so. Although if things don't turn around starting next year they might to speeding up the development of the PS4, since the PS3 offers no real significant improvements in performance or graphics to the X360.
Sony's got three hurdles.
1. Reduce the cost of the console. Frankly this I feel was their biggest error. They took a chance on a new technology (Blu-Ray) before it was truly ready for Prime Time. Since all new experimental tech costs a mint this kept away the customers. Blu-Ray might still win the DVD-HD format wars but for the PS3 the damage is done.
2. Vastly improve its Online Content. They are waaay behind MS on this. Frankly they might be too far behind...
3. With the loss of the GTA, Final Fantasy, the WWE, and Madden exclusivity licenses (and a few others) it needs a view more hot titles on PS3 to attract buyers. Much like Xbox has done with Bioshock, Gears of War, and HALO.
It still has a Metal Gear Solid and a few less popular games like DMC, but what it really needs are games that will automatically sell consoles. The loss of Rockstar hurt them baaaaaad...
