Imagine a USB....
Now imagine that USB thumbdrive with the capabilities to boot into Hirens, DSL (Damn Small Linux), knoppix; plus in windows have portable apps, reg cleaners, networ tools, cleaners, speeders, and security goodness tools....
Riiiight???!!!!
This will be an attempt at a tutorial to do the above. (THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS and much of which is only a suggestion)
I'll start with the easy part first.... (using linux to partition the drive and make multiple boots will be later for it is more in depth)
Let's start simple to get you aquainteted with your USB drive.
On a freshly formated drive make the following folders:
Tools
Storage
Apps
Use these to keep your drive organized
Now lets add the apps...There is a open source application launcher that has a rather large suite of software available from Gimp to Openoffice even Putty and WinSCP...
got to
http://portableapps.com/ and download and install the launcher to your thumbdrive. install the launcher under the Apps folder
I recomend downloading just the raw launcher and then selecting the apps you wish to install and adding them via the launcher

The following is a list of tools to put on your USB drive - under the \Tools

HijackThis - This is great for fixing infected machines (get the executable version for your thumb drive)

It also doesnt hurt to have Crap Cleaner (CCleaner) in either the install version of the exe one. This comes in handy when fixing the persons computer wont even allow internet access or access is slow....

And of course you need TCP Optimizer to tweak your or their download speed via windows settings

I have many more apps but that should get you started...
Under my tools forlder I have the following folder structure:
\backups
\help files
\run files
\tool installers
\res hack - A great tool to modify the look of windows and other things...
That is all for now, in the future look for more apps, more description, how to, and of course the bootable Linux Apps/OS's, tools, and how to access via X brand of computer...
