Post - To upgrade or rebuild???

I have been trying to milk my old PCI/AGP system for as long as possible now and I think I might have hit the limit. While the temptation to just drop a hundred here and there on new graphics cards and better memory seems like a good idea, I don't think it is anymore.

This is my dilema I can get a ATI HD 3850 sapphire HDCP ready AGP card for about 120 bucks however my proc is onlu a P4 3.06 so this wont quite hack it for Blu-ray (which sucks)...

My two questions?

Has anyone got Blu-ray playback to work on anything under a P4 3.2 and if so how good is it?

What do you all recomend for a new base mobo/chipset setup for Gaming and High Def movie wathcing?

Well...
If you are still using a P4 and you want to upgrade now is the time to do it. While you didn't state your OS I will assume it is Windows since you are doing blue ray.

Right now quad core procs are at a bargain basement price. I would suggest doing a full build and re using as many stable parts as you have. Buying a blue ray player for your current computer would drive it in to the ground.

I can suggest things all day but if you lay out your minimum requirements and OS with your price range and what you want to re use I am sure some recommendations will stream in.
