Post - Virtual Trip: Travel in 'Second Life'

NEW YORK (AP) -- The tour was a whirlwind: dancing at a beachside disco in Spain surrounded by scantily clad women, grabbing a seat at a lively pub in Dublin, flying in a small aircraft above a lush, tropical forest....

Anyone using Second Life??
I really can't see the point of it and why it's getting this popular.
I've never tried it myself, just read about the problems with the system and the graphics doesn't look that good either..

I tried a few times back then, wondering around, trying to figure out how to use its functions etc. Honestly, it wasn't a very nice experience, but perhaps I will give it a go again when Renault F1 set up their own land in there.

I tried it myself once, for all of twenty minutes. I mean, it's fun and all, but when you get right down to it it's just a fancy chat program...that's not even really free, at that. The thing I found most amusing about the entire experience was when creating a character, the surnames in the dropdown list included names such as Troughton and Hartnell. I picked Pertwee.

I have never heard of Second Life before, it seems pretty interesting. The URL does not work though so if someone could post a new one that would be awesome.

Not free? I thought joining is free?

Anyway, I've heard so much about Second Life. I'm actually thinking of joining because I'm so curious. I'm just worried that I'll be addicted to it.
