Post - Weird glitch in word-processing and email programs...

Does this ever happen to anyone else? You're trying to edit a document and, for every new letter you type, a previously typed character in front of it is deleted. The only way I know to make revisions without screwing up the document, when this happens, is to copy and paste those revisions from somewhere else. This drives me crazy, and I've had it happen in Microsoft Word and Notepad, as well as Outlook Express, Yahoo Mail and sometimes when posting on forums. Any suggestions for fixing this?

Have you accidentally pushed the "insert" button? That's what it sounds like to me, so give it a try. You might be surprised how easy of a fix it is.

press insert again and it will undo that process.

I hit it all the time when I use backspace.

This isnt usually a bug, its a overlapping or something like that, I can't really remember the name, but it is something that can be disabled at the options in the word processing. It used to drive me crazy too, till i messed around on the option. But right now can't really tell you what i did since i have upgraded to word 2007, so cant really retrace ma steps.

it's the overwrite function, the reason the insert key even exists as near as I can tell.
