Post - Windows Vista SP1 Officially Released

Microsoft have finally released Service Pack 1 (SP1) for Windows Vista now..
I'm downloading it now and I'll post a "review" as soon as I've got it up and running (and have tested if they've managed to fix the file copy issues.. )

Notable changes in Vista SP1

Is this the version that crashes all antivirus software or the version that doesn't?

I did on my laptop. Works well, so far the only thing I notice is bootup is faster. No problems with Bitdefender 2008 either.

I have to do my desktop tonight, should see a big gaming difference.

What about file copy?? Any difference there?

The Norwegian version isn't released until April and I don't think I'll bother to try the English SP1 yet, but I just found out that the Norwegian version is already available on windowsupdate.com but haven't been made public yet..
I'll try to download that one instead when I get back home this weekend...

Well the Desktop went on without a hitch, but it made a holy horror of my desktop, blew up both the Nvidia graphic and Creative Labs audio drivers. Now the darn thing wont boot at all, I am going to have to re-fomat and reinstall.

On top of it I think brand new RAM isnt working right.

Thanks Microsoft.

Very "impressive" ..
Maybe I should wait for Service Pack 1 for SP1 to arrive first before downloading it..

Well OK here an update.

Turns out it didn't much like the older RAID driver I installed in addition to the video and sound. This is probably what caused the crash.

I reinstalled from Scratch and updated all the drivers to the most recent (actually SP1 installs all the latest drivers automatically except for the X-FI card) and so far the system is stable. Playing abit of THQs DOW and THQs THE PUNISHER seems good now.

One bit about the memory. The RAM was fine, the problem was my motherboards latest BIOS has a bug that would set the memory voltage too low (1.8) by default for people installing more than 3GIGS of RAM. I had to take one module out, overclock the MEM voltage to 2.30 volts in the BIOS and then reinstall the memory.

So I know for 4 GIGS running stable on VISTA SP1 (knock on wood). Took the entire easter weekend to diagnose everything.
